Metal pots can be darned attractive, but can also help to fry the roots of some plants if they get too hot. Always worth taking the time to line the pot with bubble-wrap to protect the roots whilst maintaining the chic/ sleek look that you’re after.(‘Bury me deep in love’ by the Triffids ’87 and covered by Kylie in 2001)

What a great idea. I am giving a talk later about container planting and I will mention this. Thank you.
Andrew
Bubble wrap is a great idea! Here in the Southern US where it gets hot as blazes I line the black plastic pots I use for tomato plants with layers of wet newspaper.
Not nearly as cool as your metal pots, but if your best sun is in the driveway (likr mine), you need a portable vegetable garden.
PS They say it is a sin to live in the South and not grow tomatoes. Our hot, humid weather makes them very sweet.
Very jealous of your ideal tomato growing conditions. I think we have ideal lettuce growing conditions in the UK and Rhubarb looking particularly good at the moment too.
I’d forgotten all ablout the Triffids, I loved The Black Swan.
Good tips with the bubble wrap I’ve always done that for frost, didn’t think of the heat, thanks.
